Super Sunday

What a day of sport I'm currently sat watching covered by Sky Sports two great games in the English Premier League followed by the conference championship games in the NFL. However one sporting match up that may get missed between these 4 matches is Sky's first live Sunday NBA match between Los Angeles Lakers and Toronto Raptors.

On Thursday Sky covered the NBA game played in the O2 arena but tonight will be the first live match from the States. Sky have recently bought the rights to show live games on a Sunday something NBA fans in the UK have been crying out for since Sky lost these rights over 5 years ago.

This will help grow the popularity of Basketball in the UK following the recent disappointing news of being left out of UKSports Olympic funding. The coverage will help showcase the worlds best players and the worlds best league. Giving more coverage can only help the popularity of the sport and the number of young boys and girls playing the sport. Two players who I predict will get a lot of air time will be the two UK players who apply their skills in the NBA, Luol Deng and James Freeland.

Deng is already a superstar and one of the best players in the league he is a key part of a Chicago Bulls team who have aspirations of playing in the championship. While Freeland was drafted by Portland 3 years ago but sent out to Europe to learn his trade this is his first season playing in the NBA. The coverage provided by Sky which I'm sure will be nothing short of 5 star will hopefully help aspire young players so the future Deng is born.

Well done Sky a great days coverage of sport and great to have basketball there in the thick of it.
