Chip Kelly NFL coach

Following Sunday and week 17's games comes black Monday. In the NFL world this is the day when head coaches who have not had a successful year get the chop. One of the most likely candidates to be axed is Andy Reid, the Eagles have a playoff caliber roster and ambitions to match this.

I'm not going to discuss Ried's legacy or all that he has accomplished in Philly but rather look at one of the people who could replace him. Oregon head Chip Kelly who still has the Fiesta bowl to take carry off, will more than likely be sort after by many NFL teams. Kelly runs a dynamic, quick scoring spread offence in Oregon which excites some NFL GM's. If the spread offence could work in the NFL is a topic I will discuss in a future blog, but many offences are looking for dual threat QB who can spread defences out and can hurt them with their legs and arms key features of a spread offence.

Kelly would be very interested in the Eagles job, the organisation in the past have given personnel decisions to the head coach something which will attract Kelly. Also the opportunity to work with Michael Vick will attract Kelly, as Vick will be a good QB to use to integrate his spread offence with. There are also many pieces in place with regards to the roster to help Kelly win straight away. Not being an Eagle fan but I could imagine this will be a popular choice with the fans as he not only has a winning mentality but a style of football the fans want.

I do strongly believe that Reid will be fired on Monday but I'm not saying Kelly will be his replacement it's just a good match. Kelly will be highly sort after by other teams as well but teams may also turn a cold shoulder on him as he does lack any NFL experience.

Tomorrows bowl selection
Pinstrip Bowl Syracuse to beat West Virginia in a very high scoring game.
